Margarita Rosario hit three straight free throws in the final 20 seconds to carry the University at Albany women’s basketball team to a 58-56 victory over Maine Sunday in an America East Conference game at the Cross Insurance Center.

The victory pushed the Great Danes’ league record to 13-0, and marked UAlbany’s ninth straight win in the series with the Black Bears (14-12, 8-5 AE).

Maine had taken a 56-55 lead on a three-point play by Anna Heise with 1:21 to play, but Rosario, who finished with 10 points, made two straight trips to the free-throw line pay off.

Freshman Imani Tate led the Danes (23-3 overall) with 13 points, and Megan Craig finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Senior Shereesha Richards only played 11 minutes in the first half because of foul trouble, and scored eight points, the first time this season she didn’t score in double digits.

The Great Danes are home Wednesday, hosting Binghamton at 7 p.m.
