Gloversville Enlarged School District's assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction was placed on administrative leave after being arrested in Colonie Sunday night on methamphetamine possession charges.
Colonie Police Lt. Robert Winn said Frank Pickus, 57, of Saratoga Springs, was stopped for traffic violations near Starbucks at 549 Troy-Schenectady Rd. After searching his car, officers found a half ounce of meth on him and in the vehicle, Winn said.
"He was cooperative with the officers and identified himself when asked," Winn said. "They found meth on him and in the vehicle but he was not impaired."
Superintendent Michael Vanyo said in a district notice Monday that he placed Pickus on leave pending an investigation. Vanyo said the district is unable to provide additional information as the investigation is ongoing.
Pickus was released and is due back in Colonie Town Court Wednesday to answer to misdemeanor charges of possessing a controlled substance and traffic violations.
