Elise Stefanik hired Troy native Matt Masterson as her campaign manager in the race for the congressional seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Bill Owens, D-NY.
Stefanik announced Tuesday she hired Masterson along with Anthony Pileggi, from Herkimer, as deputy campaign manager and director of operations.
“Matt brings an impressive resume of political experience,” Stefanik said in a news release. “He knows upstate New York well having worked on many local races, and understands the issues that matter most to us.”
Masterson previously served as political director at the New York Republican State Committee. He also has experience running several state campaigns within the 21st congressional district.
Before Stefanik, Pileggi worked as the grassroots director for Rep. Richard Hanna, R-NY, during his 2012 re-election campaign. He most recently ran the daily operations for Hanna’s Binghamton district office.
“Elise is exactly the type of person upstate New York can be proud of in Congress,” Masterson said. “She will be a strong advocate for our communities, families, small businesses and veterans, and I’m excited to join her campaign to bring new ideas and new leadership to Congress.”
