A Saratoga Springs man was arrested on a pair of felonies early Sunday morning after breaking the glass doors of a tire business in the city, police said.

Eric McCleary, 45, was arrested at approximately 5:20 a.m. on March 9, shortly after he allegedly smashed the glass doors of Sam’s Tires on Congress Street.

He was charged with felony criminal mischief. The arrest, however, came at the end of a larger investigation. A recent string of commercial burglaries prompted a joint investigation by the Saratoga Springs police and Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department.

Early into the investigation, a city police officer on midnight patrol developed “pertinent information” in regard to the crimes. The information meshed with some department leads, which eventually led to McCleary.

McCleary was also charged Sunday with third-degree burglary, a felony.

McCleary was arraigned and sent to Saratoga County Jail with no bail. The investigation is continuing. Additional charges are possible.
