The Capital District OTB and a Rochester developer are holding a meeting with Albany's Common Council Friday afternoon to discuss a possible casino in the city of Albany.
David Flaum, chairman and CEO of Flaum Management, and John Signor, president of Capital District OTB, will discuss what they are calling "Project E23," a proposal to establish a casino and resort off Exit 23 of the Thruway.
The meeting will be held starting at noon at Albany City Hall in the Mayors Conference Room. The plan is a push to enter Albany in the race for a full-scale casino. Other proposed sites include those in Rensselaer and Schenectady along with Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
Flaum was previously looking to develop the former Tobin First Prize plant off Central Avenue in Albany, but the site did not receive support from local residents or officials. Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan has also expressed concerns about establishing a casino downtown.
