Union will face former ECAC Hockey-foe Vermont in the NCAA hockey tournament East Regional semifinal at 2 p.m. Friday at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn.
The Catamounts (20-14-3) are guided by former Union head coach Kevin Sneddon. He was Union's coach from 1998-2003. Before that, Sneddon was an assistant coach from 1993-98.
Vermont left the ECACH in 2005 to join Hockey East.
The Dutchmen (28-6-4), who are top seed in the East and third seed overall, will play in Bridgeport for the third time in four years. They lost to Minnesota Duluth in the 2011 semifinal, then won the 2012 title by beating Michigan State in the semifinal and UMass-Lowell in the championship to advance to their first Frozen Four.
The other semifinal will feature another former Union head coach. Nate Leaman and Providence will face Quinnipiac in the 5:30 p.m.
Both semifinal games are on ESPNU.
The title game is 3 p.m. Saturday on ESPN2.
