The Albany County Airport Authority officially has its new chairman.

Rev. Kenneth J. Doyle, who has served as acting chairman since David E. Langdon’s term expired in 2012, was officially designated chairman Monday by Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy and Albany County Legislature Majority Leader Frank Commisso. He has been a member of the Airport Authority since 2009 and was heavily involved in the recent and successful effort to bring JetBlue to the Albany International Airport.

“I am most pleased to be able to appoint Rev. Doyle as chairman of the Albany County Airport Authority,” said McCoy in a news release issued Monday. “Rev. Doyle is a proven leader and his vision will help ensure the future growth of the airport as a leading economic engine for the Capital Region.”

During his time as acting chairman, Doyle oversaw capital improvement projects at the airport, including security enhancements, runway and taxiway improvements, and planning for construction of a large aircraft maintenance facility.

He also serves as the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany’s chancellor for public information and pastor of the Parish of Mater Christi in Albany.
