A Saratoga County motorist has admitted a felony charge and may go to prison for a crash that seriously injured his passenger.
Police say Morgan Petralia had a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal threshold of intoxication when he careened around a curve on Route 29 and flipped his vehicle over on the shoulder in November.
The 24-year-old Schuylerville man suffered minor injuries in the crash. His passenger, 39-year-old Jennifer Brown, was much more seriously injured and was airlifted from the scene. She sustained multiple fractures in her face, neck and spine and continues to progress through a long recovery process.
On Thursday, Petralia appeared in Saratoga County Court and admitted to first-degree vehicular assault. He now faces up to three years in prison when sentenced May 22.
Petralia voluntarily provided a breath sample following the crash. Investigators determined his BAC to be 0.19 percent.
