School Lacrosse: Schenectady tops Troy in opener

James Schnepf went three quarters before allowing a goal, and Schenectady spread the scoring Saturday in a 6-1 win at Troy to begin its Big 10 lacrosse schedule.

Ethan Szemansco led the Patriots (1-0, 1-1) with three goals, and Schnepf finished with nine saves.

Kevin Dyer had three goals and an assist to lift Guilderland over Queensbury, 9-5, in a non-league game.

Tyler Raymond paced the Spartans with two goals and two assists.

Shenendehowa dropped its season opener to Lakeland/Panas, 9-7. Pat Coll had three goals and an assist for the Plainsmen.

Matt Woods collected three goals and a pair of assists, and six other Shaker players had multiple points in a 15-4 Suburban Council win over Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.

Austin and Will Clark split the BH-BL goals.

The Niskayuna girls got two goals apiece from Catherine Sexton, Jill Macri and Brianna Sacks in a 7-3 Suburban Council win over Saratoga Springs.
