City police arrested an Avery Street man on felony assault charges after he allegedly slashed his roommate in the chest with a folding knife early Sunday morning.
Gustavo E. Fraatz-Garcia, 30, was charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of second-degree menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and obstruction of breathing following his arrest at 5:44 a.m.
Police were initially called to Avery Street for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old man with a minor slash wound to his chest.
Further investigation revealed Fraatz-Garcia had gotten into a verbal argument with the man and began to choke him with his hands. The man was able to escape, but not before Fraatz-Garcia grabbed a folding knife and tried to slash the man in the chest.
The knife cause s minor wound that did not require emergency care. Fraatz-Garcia was arraigned in City Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail.
