A 43-year-old Malta man is facing felony drug charges after officials say he was caught selling cocaine from a house on East High Street.
Joseph E. McClelland, of 178 E. High St., was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team jointly investigated McClelland after receiving a tip that drug trafficking might be occurring from a home on East High Street.
According to a news release issued Tuesday, the investigation revealed that McClelland was living at the residence and on different occasions seen “actively selling cocaine.”
He was indicted on a Saratoga County Superior Court warrant for the sales and possession charges. On Monday, he was arraigned before the same court and sent to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bail bond pending his next court date.
