A city man admitted in court Wednesday to sexually abusing a child in 2012.
Harvey D. Evans, 60, formerly of Nott Street, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony. He admitted to abusing a child known to him in October 2012 in Schenectady.
In exchange for his plea, he is to get four years in state prison at his June sentencing. Evans also faces between three to 10 years of post-release supervision to be determined at sentencing and will have to register as a sex offender.
The plea also covers a possible bail jumping charge: Evans was released on bail and failed to show up for court. He wasn’t found again for about six months, prosecutor Tracey Brunecz said.
