Full telephone service for the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department was restored Tuesday afternoon, the department said.
All emergency and administrative lines were up again as of 4 p.m., said Chief Deputy Richard L. Castle.
Since Sunday night, the administrative lines had all been out and the number of available 911 lines reduced from 10 to five. Warren and Washington county dispatching centers were available to handle any overflow of calls.
The problem was traced to an underground cable on County Farm Road, and was repaired by Verizon crews.
“In the coming weeks, there will be discussions between the Sheriff’s Office, county Office of Emergency Services and Verizon to debrief this outage and further develop our emergency action plans,” Castle said.
The county Department of Public Works and animal shelter were also initially affected, but had their phones back in operation Tuesday.
