Good Samaritan made a grateful friend
After the recent ice storm, I fell in my own driveway and couldn’t get up. It was dark out and about 8:30 p.m. I had nothing to grab to boost me, and I tried to wave people down to help me. I was just a few feet from the road. My dog was with me but she couldn’t help. Finally, after about 10 minutes a wonderful thing happened.
A man went by and saw me waving. He stopped, jumped out of his truck, and with one pull I was upright. I asked him for his name and he said, “Skip.” He made sure I was OK, then got in his truck and left. What a great name for someone as good as he was. What a great event, as I had visions of being there forever.
As many as 20 cars and trucks went by; they probably couldn’t see me sitting in the driveway. I’m getting older and so I should carry a cell [phone] but I don’t, and I don’t have any access to outside help with those emergency buttons that you wear. Thank you, Skip, wherever you are!
