Saratoga cops seek suspected burglar

City police are looking for a suspected burglar who may have later eluded authorities after throwing

City police are looking for a suspected home invader who may have later eluded authorities after throwing a punch at an officer and speeding off, authorities said.

An America Way homeowner called city police at 9:45 p.m. Thursday to report a burglary in progress. The woman reported she saw a man she did not know on her second-floor landing. According to police, after the homeowner shouted at the intruder, he fled out the front door.

As police canvassed the area, an officer flagged down a slowly moving black SUV on Regatta View Drive just off of Dyer Switch Road. After speaking to the driver the officer called for another unit, after which the driver threw a punch at the officer and sped off, police said. The officer was not injured.

The SUV was found abandoned not much later on Overlook Court. Neither the intruder nor driver have been located after a search by city police and the Saratoga County Sheriff's Department.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who might have information is asked to contact city police at 584-1800.
