Matt Pierce took a no-hitter into the seventh inning Friday, finishing with a one-hitter as Guilderl

Matt Pierce took a no-hitter into the seventh inning Friday, finishing with a one-hitter as Guilderland beat defending champion Tottenville, 2-1, in the opening round of the Clarkstown South tournament.

Pierce struck out six and walked one as the Dutchmen opened their season with a win.

Jacob Sturn singled, drew three walks and scored a run, and Ben Favreau had a single and RBI for Guilderland, which plays Pearl River this morning.

Asa Snyder tossed a four-hitter and struck out 13 as Middleburgh defeated Mekeel Christian Academy, 8-5, in a Western Athletic Conference opener.

Ryan Putnam had two hits and scored three runs, Michael Weaver doubled and singled, and Billy Miaski singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Knights.

Tyler Guido had two hits and knocked in three runs for the Lions.

Kyrek Osterhout had two doubles and a pair of singles, and Ben Content hit a double and single to lead Colonie past Albany, 7-4, in the Garnet Raiders’ season opener.

Dom DeMarco knocked in two runs as Shaker topped CBA, 7-2.
