Former state Assemblyman George Amedore Jr. will announce this morning whether he will run for the Senate seat he narrowly missed election to during the 2012 election.
Amedore is hosting a news conference at Village Pizza II in Catskill at 11 a.m. today.
The Rotterdam builder fell 18 votes short of capturing the newly drawn 46th Senate District in an election that wasn’t decided until January 2013.
Cecilia Tkaczyk, who was largely considered an underdog in the 2012 race, was able to capitalize on a last-minute infusion of more than a half-million dollars of campaign funding from a pair of downstate political action committees. Amedore initially appeared to be the winner, but a ballot recount revealed Tkaczyk was victorious.
Greene County was also among Amedore’s strongholds during the 2012 election. He bested Tkaczyk by more than 3,000 votes in the county, according to election results.
