A 19-year-old Glenville woman died today after her car struck a railroad overpass in town, police said.
Caitlin Callahan was driving east on Glenridge Road around 4:56 a.m. when her 2013 Honda Civic left the pavement and struck the concrete wall supporting the overpass, just west of Bruce Drive, Glenville police Lt. Stephen Janik said in a news release issued today.
Alplaus and East Glenville Fire Departments responded to the scene and had to extricate Callahan from the car using the Jaws of Life. She was taken to Albany Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 11 a.m.
Police say they know of no contributing factors to the accident at this time, and it remains under investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
