Man in stable condition a day after being shot in Schenectady

City police said a 22-year-old man was in stable condition Sunday after being shot in the torso outs

City police said a 22-year-old man was in stable condition Sunday after being shot in the torso outside a convenience store late Saturday evening.

Investigators said Mervin A. Bingham was shot once around 10:32 p.m. in the area of 1685 Van Vranken Ave. Officers arriving on the scene found him on the ground in front of the store.

Bingham was treated by city firefighters and taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He is now listed in stable condition, police said.

Members of the Schenectady Police Department’s Detective Division and Evidence Technician Unit are continuing to investigate the shooting.
