A man and four dogs escaped a Thursday evening fire in West Glenville, fire officials said.
The fire broke out just after 6 p.m. at a home at 1155 West Glenville Road, Schenectady County Fire Coordinator John Nuzback said.
West Glenville firefighters arrived to find the front porch and right side of the house on fire. Wind fanned the flames a little bit, Nuzback said, but firefighters got the blaze out quickly.
One resident, who was home at the time with his four dogs, was alerted to the fire by smoke detectors. He got himself and the dogs out to safety. Two people lived in the home, Nuzback said.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation Thursday evening.
West Glenville was assisted by firefighters from Glenville Hill, Beukendaal and West Charlton and the Air National Guard.
