Robert Decker passed off A+ Rated Contracting as being fully insured so he could land roofing jobs between 2011 and 2013.
But he was’t insured. And after the contracts were signed and money was given to him, the 59-year-old Fonda man left most of the work unfinished. And in some cases, he never performed any work at all.
Decker admitted he stole $5,000 from a Malta homeowner who had hired him to replace a roof.
He never did the work and refused to refund any of the money.
On Monday, Decker admitted to felony counts of grand larceny, scheming to defraud and offering a false instrument for filing during a hearing in Saratoga County Court. He also admitted to one count of petty larceny.
He is scheduled to be sentenced June 27, when he’ll face a prison term of as much as nine years. He also must repay as much as $375,000 to homeowners he defrauded.
