The NCAA hockey-champion Union College Dutchmen will be saluted by the New York legislature on Wednesday.

At 10 a.m., assemblyman and Union alum Jim Tedisco (R-Glenville) will honor the Dutchmen will honor the team when he presents the team with a copy of a resolution he sponsored that was unanimously passed in the chamber.

At 11 a.m., the team will be the guests of state senator Hugh Farley (R-Schenectady). Sen. Farley will present a resolution honoring the Dutchmen, and they will be introduced to the entire New York State Senate.

The Dutchmen, who beat Minnesota, 7-4, in the championship game April 12 in Philadelphia, could be headed to the White House to be honored by President Barack Obama.

“This matter is being processed through proper political channels,” a Union spokesman said in a statement.

A spokesman for Congressman Paul Tonko (D-Schenectady), whose office is arranging the visit, declined comment.

It’s possible the visit could happen next year. Yale, the 2013 NCAA hockey champions, visited the White House on March 10.
