Baseball: Braves crank up offense, rout Riders

Eleven players recorded at least one hit in a 20-hit attack as Fonda-Fultonville battered Ichabod Crane, 16-1, in a Colonial Council baseball game Tuesday.

Zak Shaw went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Anthony Sinicropi laced three singles and Kevin Myers plated four runs with a double and single for the 5-4, 8-4 Braves.

Rob Okosky also plated two runs with a pair of hits, while Brandon Baker, Lucas Calkins and Pat Hart also delivered two hits apiece.

Albany Academy improved to 8-2 in the Colonial Council (9-2 overall) with a 12-5 win over visiting Watervliet.

Sean Dempsey and Trevor Francesconi each belted a pair of doubles and drove in three runs apiece for the Cadets. Jim Grifin doubled and plated two runs for the 2-8, 2-10 Cannoneers.

Kevin Paskevich banged two doubles and a single for two RBI, and Tyler Smith had two singles and three RBI in Schalmont’s 8-1 win over Cobleskill-Richmondville.

Nate Bird tossed a complete-game five-hitter with seven strikeouts for the 8-1, 11-1 Sabres. Josh Tusang and Billy Sawyer doubled for the Bulldogs.

Julian Gallup struck out eight and scattered six hits during a complete-game shutout, and Kolbie Glionna belted a two-run homer in the sixth inning to lead Amsterdam over Christian Brothers Academy, 3-0, in the Big 10.

In the Wasaren League, Hoosic Valley collected 17 hits and blanked Tamarac, 12-0.

John Rooney and Jared Morello each produced three hits, and John Lucas was 4-for-4 for the 9-2, 14-3 Indians.

Stillwater (5-5) used three RBI from Tim Travis and two RBI from Jake Hill to beat Cambridge, 8-3.

Scotty Voelker drove in four runs with three hits to power Mekeel Christian Academy past Berne-Knox-Westerlo, 15-6, in the Western Athletic Conference.

In the Central Hudson Valley League, three pitchers combined on a no-hitter, Billy Martin went 5-for-6 with two doubles and four RBI, and Cam Gardner also had a double and two RBI, as Waterford-Halfmoon blanked Heatly, 16-0.
