Softball: Mekeel chalks up first victory

Nicole Barratiere hit three doubles, and Mekeel Christian Academy rallied with two runs in the home seventh to beat Sharon Springs, 12-11, Tuesday for its first win of the season.

Lexi Rychick doubled and tripled, Elaina Taplin hit a double and Lindsay McCarty knocked in the winning run for the Lady Lions in the Western Athletic Conference win.

Renee Handy hit three singles, and Morgan Daignault had three hits for Sharon Springs, which scored six runs in the top of the sixth to take an 11-10 lead.

Jessi Freebern had two hits, including a triple, to help Galway beat Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville, 7-4, in the WAC.

Emily Zawisa added a two-run single and Sabrina Williams had a pair of base hits for the 5-6, 6-7 Lady Eagles.

Kyleigh Hayner and Leanne Clark both had two hits for OESJ.

Joelle Salisbury threw a two-hit shutout and struck out 14 as Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons knocked off Middleburgh, 13-0, in a non-league game.

Caroline Bouchard went 4-for-5, Alyssa Salisbury hit two doubles and drove in three runs and both Julianna Maddalone and Joelle Salisbury knocked in two runs for 5-2 Bishop Gibbons.

Morgan Redmond threw a four-hitter to help Mohonasen down Amsterdam, 4-2, in a non-league contest. Taylor Thompson hit a pair of singles, and Maria Patterson had a two-run double for Mohonasen. Allie Kahn had two of Amsterdam’s hits.

Columbia’s Samara Perry went 2-for-4, including a two-run home run, and also stole home to lead the Blue Devils past Saratoga Springs, 8-1, in the Suburban Council.

Lauren Mahar finished with a two-hitter and 14 strikeouts as Schalmont topped Wat­ervliet, 4-1, in the Colonial Council.

Emilie Decker and Alex Harvey both drove in a run for 8-2, 11-3 Schalmont.

Taylor Daniels singled and scored Watervliet’s run on a wild pitch.

Kirstyn Alonzo’s three-hit shutout got Mechanicville past Holy Names, 3-0. Alonzo struck out 13. Erin Maloney had two of Mechanicville’s three hits, and scored two runs.

Cassandra Egelston and Miranda Nethaway both drove in two runs as Fonda-Fultonville downed Voorheesville, 12-2.

Lauren Dlugolecki had two RBI for Voorheesville.

Roma Mazzariello went 4-for-4 with a double, triple and four runs batted in, lifting Ichabod Crane past Lansingburgh, 16-1.

Lauren Nash and Sam Castracani both had two hits for Lansingburgh.

Central Hudson Valley League leader Loudonville Christian School went to 12-1 with a 24-0 blanking of Doane Stuart. Jane Field and Casey Rock combined on a no-hitter, Kasey Hannay hit a home run, and Ange Stephano drove in two runs for LCS.

Gabby VanDewater went 5-for-5, and Alexis Case had a four-hit game as Greenwich downed Hoosick Falls, 9-0, in the Wasaren League.
