School Softball: Salisbury lifts Knights past Falcons

Pitcher Joelle Salisbury figured in 20 of Albany’s 21 outs, leading Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons to a 2-1 Big 10 softball win Wednesday.

Salisbury struck out 19. The other out she had a hand in was catching a popup.

Sara DeFruscio had three hits and two RBI, and Kaileigh added two hits and an RBI as Schenectady beat Catholic Central, 6-4.

Sarah Delvecchio and Victoria Maddalone had an RBI single each for the Golden Knights (5-2 Big 10, 6-2 overall).

Alina Germinerio and Gloria Shufelt each belted two-run homers, and Victoria Hallett fell a homer short of the cycle and drove in three runs as Troy (10-0, 13-1) completed a perfect league season with a 16-0 win over Amsterdam.

Alyssa Garrison had a two-run single as Shenedehowa beat Ballston Spa, 5-0, in the Suburban Council.

Alana VanDenburg had a double, two singles and scored the game-winning run in the top of the eighth as Columbia edged Colonie, 2-1.

Homers by Stacy Gordon, Lauren Litz and Emily Thompson helped Niskayuna defeat Saratoga Springs, 15-9. Gordon fell a triple short of the cycle. She and Jackie O’Brien drove in three runs apiece.

Leah Pennings and Haley Rutkey had two hits each as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake beat Shaker, 6-1.

Nicole Fyvie hit a game-winning double in the bottom of the seventh to lift Guilderland past Bethlehem, 4-3.

Beth Jones tripled and homered, and Taylor Daniels added a homer and a single to lead Watervliet past Fonda-Fultonville, 9-2, in the Colonial Council.

Reese Manchester had a double, three singles and two RBI as Cobleskill-Richmondville beat Voorheesville, 15-2.

Alessandra Archino had two singles and an RBI as Albany Academy edged Schalmont, 3-2. Emilie Decker had two hits and an RBI for the Sabres.

Isabelle DeChairo had a double and two singles, and Lily Secner added three singles as Cohoes cruised to a 9-2 victory over Holy Names.

Ashley Houle had three hits to lead Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk over Ichabod Crane, 4-0.

Mechanicville swept a double-header from Lansingburgh, 15-0 and 9-3. Amanda Kenyon had a double, two singles and two RBI in the opener, and Devon Scott homered in the nightcap.

Jillian Scofield and Rachel Randazzo each had a double and a single to lead Schoharie to a 10-2 Western Athletic Conference victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Middleburgh beat Fort Plain, 6-3, Emily Jenkins and Bailey Wood each had a double, a single and an RBI.

In the Central Hudson Valley League, Jane Field homered, Ange Stephano had three singles, Melissa Deeb had a triple and a single and Jasmine Mullally added a double and a single as Loudonville Christian beat Emma Willard, 6-3.

Brianna Boomhower hit for the cycle and drove in five runs in Berlin’s 29-1 rout of Doane Sturart.
