Sacandaga Lake has a very interesting history. It is also a fun place to visit and have family time. I have been able to go to my grandfather’s house on Sacandaga Lake since I was born.

My family and others come to experience the lake and sightsee as well. Sacandaga Lake has much to offer, like islands and restaurants. But perhaps the most interesting part of the lake is the lake’s history and the fact that it was manmade.

Sacandaga is a manmade lake. Before the lake was made, it was a town. As a town, the area was constantly dealing with flooding. As a result, those in charge decided to make the town a lake. Some people did not want to leave, so they moved some of the houses by horses to other land.

If there was anything left behind, it was buried by the dam. But some structures remained standing, as well as railroads with an abandoned aging train. Sometimes when you’re boating on the lake you can see the foundations of some of the houses. Some people go there just to see the flooded town.

The lake began to be constructed in the 1920s and was completed in March of 1930 at a cost of $12 million. The lake is 29.2 miles long and 5 miles wide.

Sacandaga Lake is a beautiful lake to observe. It has magnificent mountains and a wonderful variety of trees. The lake is serene and peaceful. At night when the stars are up, it is like gazing at millions of twinkling diamonds. There are numerous stars in the sky. Also when you are at the lake at a certain spot you can see the mountains, lake and some trees all in one picture.

Sacandaga Lake is a fascinating place to bring your family and continues to be a special place for my family. Sacandaga Lake is full of fun. You can swim, go on a boat, go tubing and jet skiing or make sand castles.

Also you can have a picnic with your family. Another thing you can do is go to islands, have fun and go to parties. There are a lot of restaurants you can go to as well. Many people like to go up there to go fishing.

Scanadaga Lake is one of my favorite places to go because I am with my family and that is the best thing ever. The lake has many fun filled activities to do. Also, it has a great history too and you can go sightseeing if you desire.

My family has made many memories on the lake that will always be special to me.
