The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department is leading an investigation into the death of an inmate at the county jail.
Kenneth W. McConville, 37, was arrested by New York state police and at the time of his death was in a holding cell at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. The cause of death was unknown as of Monday.
In a news release, Montgomery County Sheriff Michael J. Amato said “McConville was awaiting arraignment. . . . During that time, it was determined that McConville had died.”
The charges facing him were not disclosed.
He was an “active parolee,” according to a spokesman for the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
