Softball: Patriots roll to 17-2 win

Dalyna Polk and Camille Nowak both drove in four runs, and Sara DeFruscio went 4-for-4 Tuesday as Schenectady beat Albany, 17-2, in a Big 10 softball game.

Alissa Hill added a home run and two singles, and Allyson Calhoun was 3-for-4 with two RBI as the Lady Patroits finished with 20 hits in support of Aleda Kirstein, who permitted just four hits.

Jen Mayette threw a four-hitter and struck out 11, and Ashley O’Neil drove in the game’s only run as Scotia-Glenville edged Hudson Falls, 1-0, in the Foothills Council.

The Lady Tartans held on to second place in the league with their win. They are 10-2 in the Foothills, 11-2 overall.

Ichabod Crane picked up a pair of Colonial Council wins, both games played at Schalmont.

The Lady Riders beat Schalmont, 3-2, on a two-run homer from Aly Funk in the top of the fourth inning.

Roma Mazzariello and Schalmont’s Lauren Mahar both allowed only three hits.

Ichabod Crane followed with a 15-0 blanking of Fonda-Fultonville, as Madison Saccento gave up just one hit in 4 2⁄3 innings.

Cassidy Smith had four hits, and Kim Myers and Jen VanAlphen both got three hits for IC.

Taylor Daniels went 3-for-5 with the game-winning double as Watervliet beat Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, 7-6, in the Colonial.

Shay Walker’s five hits and five RBI got Sharon Springs a 17-3 win over Mekeel Christian Academy. Morgan Daignault added two hits and three RBI as the Lady Spartans got their first Western Athletic Conference win.

Lindsay McCarty had three hits and two RBI for Mekeel.

Danika Svendsen hit a three-run home run as Stillwater got past Galway, 5-4, in a non-league contest.

Ange Stephano hit two home runs, scored three runs and drove in three to lead Loudonville Christian School past Germantown, 13-6, in the Central Hudson Valley League.

Emily Aubin threw a two-hitter, and Madison Thibodeau hit three singles, a double, a homer and knocked in four runs as Waterford-Halfmoon shut out Doane Stuart, 20-0, in the CHVL.

Sydney Miller drove in three runs as Hoosick Falls banged out 19 hits in beating Cambridge, 12-8, in the Wasaren League.
