Community Loan Fund slates Schenectady tour

Schenectady will be the focus of the Community Loan Fund of the Capital Region’s annual spring tour

Schenectady will be the focus of the Community Loan Fund of the Capital Region’s annual spring tour this year.

The tour, starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, will kick off at the Albany-based nonprofit’s new satellite office at 920 Albany St. in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood. The Community Loan Fund, which has a mission of promoting sustainable community development for economically underserved communities in the Capital Region, opened the office earlier this year to provide more access to the area’s low-income business owners and nonprofits.

The tour focuses on community-based economic development projects and will feature stops at an affordable housing unit, a community justice center, a cafe and a mixed-use building. Afterward, there will be a reception at the satellite office.

The event is free but RSVPs are needed as the tour will be by CDTA bus. To RSVP, email Willow Berg at willow@mycommunityloanfund.org. For information, contact Linda Chandler at 436-8587 ext. 806.

Free parking is available on Albany Street and in the Schenectady Community Action Program lot across the street.
