NYPA changes boating rules

The New York Power Authority has announced new boating regulations for 2014.

The New York Power Authority has announced new boating regulations for 2014.

Boaters seeking access to the upper reservoir at NYPA’s Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Power Project are now required to check in at NYPA’s south gate on Valenti Road on the day they plan to use the reservoir.

The reservoir is open to boaters from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Daily inspections of the reservoir are performed by NYPA security.

The lower reservoir may be accessed through Mine Kill State Park on Route 30. Boaters are required to stop at the park’s toll booth or office on the day they intend to use the reservoir.

Boating is permitted from 7:30 a.m. until one hour prior to dusk. The reservoirs may be closed to boating at any time at NYPA’s discretion.

All vehicles and individuals entering or leaving the premises are subject to search and inspection.
