Two city police officers sustained injuries after being attacked in the department cell block by a man who had just been arrested, authorities said.

Ricos Clayton, 27, of State Street, faces two felony counts of second-degree assault. He is accused of punching and fighting with officers after they ordered him to walk to his cell Wednesday evening, according to papers filed in court.

Officer Albert Rivera sustained bruises to his elbow and right hand, and Officer Gary Relation sustained a cut to his left arm and a bruise to his right hand, according to papers.

Clayton had just been arrested on Hamilton Street on a misdemeanor contempt count, accused of violating an order of protection, according to papers.

Clayton also faces one misdemeanor count each of criminal mischief and menacing, related to the fight with officers.
