State police ticketed a Scotia man Friday night after troopers said he was observed driving recklessly at speeds in excess of 100 mph on the Northway.

Troopers said they began receiving 911 calls about 6:35 p.m. — including one from an off-duty trooper — about a gray Buick operating recklessly and at high rates of speed southbound near Exit 13. A state police sergeant was in the area of exit 12 at the time and said he clocked the Buick on radar at 102 mph and witnessed its driver recklessly change lanes in heavy traffic while driving more than 100 mph.

Jared M. Tenace, 23, of Scotia, was eventually pulled over and was charged with misdemeanor counts of reckless driving and criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as numerous vehicle and traffic offenses. He was released on tickets to appear in Malta Town Court.
