A Mayfield man faces a felony drunken-driving charge after a traffic stop Monday.
State police in Mayfield said John Stephens, 57, was stopped on Route 29 in the town of Broadalbin for having a headlight out. After troopers detected an odor of alcohol on his breath, they said they administered standard field sobriety tests, which he failed.
He was subsequently arrested and was processed at the Mayfield barracks, where his blood-alcohol content registered 0.19 percent, according to troopers.
Stephens was ticketed on a felony count of aggravated driving while intoxicated, for having a blood-alcohol content exceeding 0.18 percent, as well as a vehicle and traffic violation for having inadequate headlights. He is scheduled to appear June 5 in Broadalbin Town Court.
