The Niskayuna Barnes & Noble store will close its doors at the end of this month, the company confirmed Tuesday.
David Deason, vice president of development at Barnes & Noble, said in a statement that the lease at the Mohawk Commons store will end in July, but that the store will be closing June 30.
“We look forward to serving our customers at the nearby Colonie Barnes & Noble store and at BN.com,” Deason wrote in an email.
The Barnes & Noble space is planned to be subdivided into three separate retail spaces, town officials have said.
The plans filed by the center’s owner this spring sought to subdivide the space into three leasable areas of 11,840 square feet, 8,000 square feet and 4,000 square feet, officials have said.
The Barnes & Noble store opened in November 2003. At the time, it employed about 80 people.
