Johnstown motorcyclist injured in Vermont crash

A motorcyclist has suffered a collapsed lung and fractured ribs in a one-vehicle crash in Woodford.

WOODFORD, Vt. — A motorcyclist has suffered a collapsed lung and fractured ribs in a one-vehicle crash in Woodford.

State police say 43-year-old John Schivao of Johnstown, New York, was injured shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday while riding on Route 9 near Harbour Road. His passenger, 41-year-old Julie Petersen of Schenectady, New York, suffered minor scrapes and bruises. Both have been taken to a hospital.

Authorities are still investigating. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
