Ricky Gingras had a productive out in the sixth inning Friday to help the Tri-City ValleyCats to a 2-1 New York-Penn League victory over the Lowell Spinners on Sunday at Edward A. LeLacheur Park.
After J.D. Davis led off the sixth with a triple, Gingras grounded out to shortstop Raymel Flores as Davis scored to snap a 1-1 tie.
After shutting out the Spinners on Saturday, the ’Cats continued their pitching dominance. Starter Sebastian Kessay allowed one run on two hits in four innings. He struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter.
Reliever Francis Ramirez (1-1) gave up three hits in 2 2⁄3 innings. He struck out four and walked one. Derick Velazquez and Chris Munnelly finished up.
The ’Cats took a 1-0 lead in the first when Marc Wik scored on A.J. Reed’s groundout.
The Spinners tied it in the fourth when Deiner Lopez came home on a fielder’s choice by Franklin Guzman.
