He replaced Pat Beck, who retired in the spring after a 17-year stint at the position .

Herron, who most recently served as publisher for the Minot Daily News in North Dakota, has worked in the newspaper business for more than 20 years.

“I am very excited to join the publishing team of The Leader-Herald,” Herron said in the newspaper. “The paper has a long history of providing excellent local news, expert advertising and marketing opportunities in both print and online, and quality commercial printing. I hope to expand on our services and would welcome feedback from local residents on how we can improve as a newspaper.”

Herron began his newspaper career with Odgen Newspapers at the Martinsburg Journal in West Virginia, his home state.

Herron has been actively involved in Rotary clubs in multiple states, serving as the president of the Seymour, Indiana, Rotary Club, and as a member of the board for the Boys and Girls Club, various chambers of commerce and various local United Way organizations. He is also a former chairman of the board for the Minot Area Development Corp.

“I have always believed that it is important to give back to the community,” Herron said. “In doing so, I have enjoyed building long-lasting friendships all over the country.”
