Three new Schenectady police officers will be heading to the police academy for training this month.
All three live in the city, and two attended Schenectady schools.
Nicholas D. Ottati, 23, went to Elmer Elementary School, Oneida Middle School and Schenectady High School.
He went on to get a bachelor’s degree in education from SUNY-Cortland with a certificate in physical education in 2013.
James P. Plowden, Jr., 33, went to Lincoln Elementary, Central Park Middle School and Schenectady High.
He graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
Also hired was Cole J. Merryman, 29, graduated from LaSalle Institute in Troy.
He went on to earn an associate degree in criminal justice from Hudson Valley Community College and a bachelor’s in criminal justice from the University at Albany in 2007.
They will be sworn in at 10:30 a.m. this morning and will start their six months of training at the academy Wednesday.
