A city man who would have faced misdemeanor drug counts is now charged with a felony after authorities said he tried to bury evidence Thursday.

Ruben Llanos Jr., 32, of Morningside Avenue, faces one felony count of tampering with physical evidence, as well as misdemeanor marijuana and cocaine possession charges.

Llanos is accused of trying to hide the drugs from officers by burying it under nearby mulch on State Street near Shirley Drive just after 2 p.m., according to court papers.
