A Fonda resident was accused of driving while intoxicated.
Shaun L. Schriner, 45, was arrested by state police and charged with misdemeanor aggravated driving while intoxicated early Saturday morning, after stopping his vehicle near the Mohawk River in the town of Mohawk. A breath test revealed that his blood-alcohol content was nearly three times the legal threshold for intoxication, troopers said.
Schriner was stopped in his vehicle after he was observed driving into the town of Mohawk Highway Department gravel storage area just after midnight.
Troopers asked Schriner and his female companion why they were in that particular location at that time. They stated that they were coming from dinner and were heading toward the river for the sake of “nostalgia.”
Schriner is scheduled for arraignment in Town Court on Wednesday.
