There will be a number of traffic stoppages for eastbound motorists getting on or off the Thruway at Exit 27 in Amsterdam Tuesday, the New York State Thruway Authority announced Monday.
The traffic stoppages will allow for the removal of steel on the bridge over the Thruway as part of a reconstruction project.
Stoppages will occur intermittently between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. in both directions. Only one direction will be stopped at a time.
State troopers will help stop the traffic.
Each stoppage is expected to last approximately 15 minutes; based on historical traffic data for this location, delays are expected to be minimal, the state Thruway Authority said.
In case of inclement weather, the work may be postponed.
Construction on the bridge began in February 2013 and is expected to conclude at the end of this year.
