A Schenectady man admitted to breaking into an Albany home occupied by a teenage resident Thursday, Albany County district attorney’s officials said.
Shawn Atkinson, 34, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree burglary, a felony.
He admitted to breaking into a Hackett Boulevard home over the noon hour on Nov. 22, entering through a basement window.
The teenage resident heard the break-in and called 911. Hearing the approaching sirens, Atkinson fled. He was arrested nearby with property from the house on him, officials said.
He was on parole at the time for a previous burglary conviction in Schenectady County, records show.
He is to be sentenced Aug. 21 to up to seven years in prison.
