Investigators with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office took a local man into custody on felony forgery charges after he allegedly stole the identities of two individuals to purchase gift cards at area retailers.
Shane S. Curran, 43, was charged with two counts of second-degree forgery, five counts of second-degree identity theft and five counts of criminal possession of stolen property. He was arraigned in Malta Town Court and sent to the Saratoga County jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
Authorities said Curran used the stolen identities to purchase gift cards at Hannaford and CVS Pharmacy in Malta between July 15 and 22.
Saratoga Springs police assisted in the investigation.
