Two people died late Saturday afternoon in a single-engine plane crash in northern Saratoga County.
Saratoga County sheriff's deputies said a Cessna piloted by Ciprian M. Ivascu, 33, of Newburgh, struck the top of a tree on Brownville Road and crashed shortly after takeoff from Heber Airpark at about 5:40 p.m.
Ivascu and a passenger, Jon C. Stomski, 61, of Milton, were pronounced dead at the scene by Saratoga County Coroner Susan Hayes-Masa.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board, deputies said.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Gansevoort Fire Department, Wilton Fire Department, South Glens Falls Fire Department, Wilton EMS, Moreau EMS, Lifenet, and the Federal Aviation Administration.
