A city man received more than $2,600 in social service assistance he wasn’t entitled to by failing to report income from a job, authorities said.

Jermaine Russell, 34, of Bridge Street, was arrested Saturday and charged with one count each of fourth-degree welfare fraud and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, felonies.

Russell is accused of failing to report employment when he recertified for assistance in March, according to papers filed in court.
