Two young teens were arrested Monday after they allegedly shot at police with BB guns — and actually struck them.
Two officers were inspecting a vehicle with BB damage on Paige Street Monday afternoon, police said. As they looked at the vehicle, they heard BBs flying over their heads and they were both hit.
One officer was struck in the shoulder and the other on the chest. They also saw a young man pointing what looked like a long gun at them from 341 Germania St., police said.
They pursued the young man, and eventually arrested two teenagers under the age of 16.
One teen was arrested and detained on charges of criminal mischief, a felony, meancing, a misdemeanor, and reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor. He and the other teeanger also face charges of possessing a BB gun, which is illegal for children under age 16. The second teenager was given an appearance ticket and released to an adult family member.
Police did not release the boys’ names due to their age.
