A Colonie man was arrested on a possession of stolen property charge Friday, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department said.

Robert G. Hartwell, 39, of Sand Creek Road, was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property following a multi-agency investigation, deputies said.

Deputies said a search warrant was executed July 19 at a residence on Herkimer Street in Victory where Hartwell was then living. They said items taken in at least three break-ins at abandoned properties in Saratoga and Washington counties were recovered; the charge relates specifically to items taken in a burglary in Charlton in June, but charges by other police agencies are possible.

Hartwell was also charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, in relation to an unrelated domestic incident in Victory involving a former girlfriend, deputies said.
