Because of an injury that Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill sustained over the weekend in a tour bus accident, the band will cancel all shows over the next two weeks. Followill is on doctor’s orders to rest before the band can continue its Mechanical Bull Tour.
Sunday’s concert at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center had been postponed because of the accident; it is now canceled. Ticketholders can get refunds at the place of purchase.
Kings of Leon was involved in an accident en route to their hotel in Boston Saturday when a pedestrian jumped in front of their tour bus, causing the bus to stop short. Followill broke several ribs in the accident.
Dr. Faiz Bhora, Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital in New York said, “The process is now to rest in order for healing to take place. To avoid complications and to make a full recovery, a break from performing to Aug. 28th is necessary.”
The band will return to the road on Aug. 28th to take the stage at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J.
Tonight the band will perform its new single, “Family Tree” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Questlove, Fallon’s resident band leader and a friend of Kings of Leon, will sit in on drums for the performance.
