A person of interest is in custody following a Tuesday evening stabbing in Colonie.

Colonie police said the man, whose name was not released, stabbed a 50-year-old woman and left her in the woods off Watervliet Shaker Road near Wall Street shortly before 5:53 p.m. The woman was sent to Albany Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition, police said.

Colonie police said the person of interest was arrested by Albany police Wednesday morning for violating his parole.

“We’re still investigating, but at this point, we are under the impression that they do not know each other,” Colonie police Detective Jay Jerace said.
