A Schenectady man was charged with felony DWI Saturday morning after state police say he drove more than 10 miles with a front tire missing.
Michael Berben, 27, was arrested at about 6:15 a.m. after he was spotted driving a Ford pickup west on Route 146 in Clifton Park with no tire on the front driver’s side, troopers said.
His blood alcohol content was .21 percent, troopers said.
Troopers said he left a 10.7-mile trail of scratches in the pavement of several side roads and residential neighborhoods. They followed the scratches all the way to the remains of Berben’s tire to calculate the distance.
Because he had a prior DWI conviction, Berben was charged with felony DWI.
He was also charged with operating a vehicle with an inadequate tire and other infractions.
Berben will appear in Clifton town court to answer the charges.
